I had the great privilege of being asked to be the Toastmaster and Master of Ceremonies at the Liverpool Law Society’s 186 Annual Dinner at the Adelphi Hotel Liverpool in November. The main guest speakers were The Rt Hon Lord Heseltine CH and Mr Andy Bounds. The President Alistair Fletcher and the Vice President Glenys Hunt welcomed their guests on arrival and both gave heart felt speeches to the 380 people present.
Lord Heseltine was a pleasure to listen too. He spoke for 15 minuets without notes and was the consummate professional you would expect from someone with his background. His affection for Liverpool, when he was the Minister for Liverpool after the riots in 1982, was only too apparent to everyone present.
Andy Bounds is an inspirational speaker and has to be commended on his presentation that night. He held his audience for 20 minuets and was rightly applauded for his efforts.
Alistair said “Christian exceeded my high expectations, keeping a very firm grip on the whole evening” and Sarah Poblete the CEO of the Liverpool Law Society said “you did a tremendous job and the touches like helping VIPs into their coats at the end of the evening didn’t go unnoticed. I thought the whole evening went very well and you controlled the crowd and the timings extremely well.”
I had the pleasure of working with Ray Farley who was the appointed photographer for the evening. A well know face to most of the guests, Ray has kindly allowed me to use some of his photos on my website.
Mills Media provided all the technical support and it was a pleasure to meet the MD Andrew Mills who I hadn’t seen for a number of years. Their sound and visual equipment helped give the evening a polished and professional feel.
